Country Apple Turnovers with Sweet Cream Icing

February 19, 2018 By Erin Kennedy 1 Comment

I love dessert. I especially love dessert that I eat at home in my cozy slippers while sitting on the couch. Especially when it is chilly outside with the sound of rain. You know what I love even more? When the delicious dessert I am eating took no time at all, but tastes like it is a delicious difficult dessert.

I love this dessert because it is so easy and yet your family or guests will think they are being crazy spoiled with this yummy pastry.

This recipe is literally 4 ingredients to make these yummy turnovers. It is pie filling, puff pastry, powdered sugar and Left Field Farms Non-GMO Creamer.

I chose country apple pie filling and it is even tastier than I thought. Who knew there was a difference? Anyhow, you can choose any flavor of pie filling you would like. I think next time I might try peach. Then there is the puff pastry. There is nothing like the crunchy-ness, flaky-ness, buttery-ness of puff pastry. You can just find that in your grocer freezer section. Roll out the puff pastry and cut into four squares. Fill one side with the apple filling. Fold over to make a triangle and use a fork to seal the edges. Bake in a 400 degree oven for 15-16 minutes, or until the turnover is browned.

To make the Sweet Cream Icing is easy as pie. (See what I did there? lol) In a bowl mix 1 cup powdered sugar and 2 tbsp of Left Field Farm creamer of your choice. Stir until all sugar is dissolved. When the turnovers are cooled, pour icing over top and enjoy!

I served my turnovers with tea, and you can use the same creamer that you used for this recipe to serve as cream for your tea. It is delicious and a perfect pairing!

I love the sweet cream flavor so much and the other flavors are fantastic too and could use their other flavors, caramel and french vanilla. You can find all their flavors at your local Walmart.

Here are just a few fabulous reasons why I choose and love Left Field Farms Creamer:

  • We give our cows non-GMO feed
  • Great milk and creamers should be within reach for all
  • Being a good neighbor is good business
  • Non GMO-Project Verified
  • From cows not treated with rBST ‡
  • No Artificial Flavors
  • Made with real cream and real sugar

Every thought of making your own puff pastry instead of using store bought? Store bought puff pastry has no butter in it like the kind made from scratch.
