I love lasagna, but I don’t have a lot of time to make it. I love pasta, and I love lasagna, so I thought, why not try to combine them? I just made this recipe up because I knew that I wanted to use the Ragu Homestyle Thick and Hearty Traditional sauce because it is so hearty, it literally hugs every noodle. I knew I wanted something cheesy, but I also knew that I wanted a pasta that was a little creamy.
I thought, why not use all the ingredients I use in a lasagna and just make a pasta? Easy to eat, easy to make and super quick. I had this recipe made in about 40 min.
I used cream cheese instead of ricotta so it was a smooth sauce, but that is completely up to you if you want to substitute ricotta.
I highly recommend this recipe. My whole family loved it and it really did taste like lasagna in a bowl.
Ingredients
- 1 Jar Ragu Homestyle Traditional
- 1 lb Italian sausage (I just used hot Jimmy Dean’s sausage)
- 1 package Jimmy Dean Sausage
- 4 ounces cream cheese
- 6 ounces heavy whipping cream
- 1 ball fresh buffalo mozzarella
- 1/2 cup shredded mozzarella
- 1/2 box mini penne
- 1 tsp. garlic powder
- 1/2 tsp. salt
- 1/4 tsp. pepper
Instructions
- In a large skillet, cook sausage and ground beef. Add garlic powder and salt and pepper. Once meat is fully cooked, add jar Homestyle Traditional Marinara, bring to a simmer. Add cream and cream cheese and stir until cream cheese is melted. In another pot, cook pasta until al dente. Just before serving sauce, add buffalo mozzarella cut into chunks and stir until melted. Once pasta is cooked, add to the pot of sauce. Serve and sprinkle with shredded cheese.
