Stay cool during the dog days of summer with this refreshing Strawberry Sweet Tea! Singing of strawberries and summertime sweetness, this tea is perfect to sip during a warm afternoon.
The dog days of summer are almost here, and I don’t know about y’all, but I am increasingly spending more and more time indoors because it’s just that hot outside.
Gone are the days of taking leisurely afternoon walks.
Gone are the days of gardening in the sunshine.
If you need me, chances are I’m hiding indoors.
My current problem, though, is our air conditioner — our 28-year-old air conditioner, mind you; bless it’s heart — is dying a slow, painful death. Meaning the inside of our home resembles a sauna around 5 p.m. daily. However, it’s surprisingly OK during the daytime hours, so long as the doors are kept shut and the fans continue running.
What’s a girl to do to combat this, other than fleeing her home every evening with baby in tow?
Make tea.
Specifically, sweet tea.
Strawberry Sweet Tea is my new favorite thing about this summer. Sure, it’s hot, but this tea? Absolutely refreshing. It’s slightly sweet, but not disgusting so, and it is chock full of strawberry goodness.
Bonus points? It does not require turning on the oven or running the stovetop for long, which are both fabuloud since it’s quite warm in my home these days.
Intrigued? Here’s how I made it:
Ingredients
- 6 cups water
- 1 1/2 cups frozen strawberries
- 3 bags organic raspberry leaf tea
- 1/2 cup granulated sugar
Instructions
- Pour the water and strawberries into a large saucepan. Cover, and bring them to a boil over high heat.
- Once boiling, remove the water and strawberries from the heat. Add the three tea bags.
- Steep the tea for 30 minutes.
- Once the tea has steeped, discard of the tea bags and the strawberries, and chill.
- Enjoy iced on a hot day!
