Cranberry Pistachio Cheese Ball

Cranberry Pistachio Cheese Ball - a perfect holiday appetizer | Get the recipe on MyCookingSpot.com!

Thanksgiving is probably the only holiday I can think of where appetizers are never really needed.

I mean, think about it. If you’re part of the Feast Cooking Team, you’re “tasting” all day, to the point where you can barely eat a full plate come dinner time. And, if you’re on the Football & Beer Crew, you’re most likely sneaking in the kitchen during refills and swiping any bites you can, leaving no need for a table of nibbles to keep you satisfied until dinner is ready.

In the case of this Cranberry Pistachio Cheese Ball, though…you may want to just have it in the kitchen to curb your turkey- or yam-snacking. I promise, you’ll still be hungry for stuffing later!

Mini Cinnamon Apple Hand Pies - home baked autumn goodness in the palm of your hand! | Get the recipe on MyCookingSpot.com!

It’s apple season!!! Yayyyy! McIntosh and Granny Smith and Honeycrisps, oh my!

One of the things on my bucket list is to visit an apple orchard and pick my own apples. My home state doesn’t have any, sadly (orange groves and strawberry patches for miles, though), but one of these days I’m gonna get to one, and then my only problems will be which apples to eat first, and how to get them all home!

Of course, whipping up a batch of these Mini Cinnamon Apple Hand Pies will be the first thing I do when I get them there! [Read more…]

Coffee Toffee Brownie Bark

Coffee Toffee Brownie Bark - caffeine between meals in the form of a crispy brownie! | Get the recipe on MyCookingSpot.com!
Is there a better combination in the food world than chocolate and coffee?

For the sake of argument, I think not. Especially when it comes to one of my favorite desserts – brownies!

Or, in the case of this recipe, Coffee Toffee Brownie Bark. Perfect, crispy bites of brownie, reminiscent of the over baked edges half the world’s population loves.

Orange Pina Colada Spritzer

Orange Pina Colada Spritzer - don't give in to fall just yet! | Get the recipe on MyCookingSpot.com!

Have you ever stared into your pantry blankly? I don’t mean that zombie stare you get when you’re starving, but are too lazy to make anything.

I mean the one where you want to have something different and interesting, and your brain is trying to pair the half-empty bag of chocolate chips with that forgotten jar of roasted red peppers and the last package of strawberry Pop-Tarts that no one touched because some jerk squeezed the pouch until the tarts broke to bits.

This Orange Pina Colada Spritzer is a little bit like that. Borne from a craving for something I’d never heard of but desperately wanted when the name popped into my head. [Read more…]
