Hi everyone! I’m Erica from The Crumby Cupcake, My Cooking Spot’s newest contributor! I’m super excited to be here to share with you some of my best and favorite recipes, starting with these Pumpkin Spiced Sweet Potato Fries with Caramel Marshmallow Dipping Sauce!
Thanksgiving festivities are bearing down on us, and as the holiday draws nearer, you’re surely planning your meal menus. There’s nothing wrong with classic sweet potato casserole and candied yams, but there’s surely a place for this modernized version of those dishes, even if it’s as a snack during Thanksgiving football!
I love sweet potatoes, and I love French fries, and whoever came up with the idea to turn sweet potatoes INTO fries was a true genius! These fries are so easy to whip up, not to mention eat while kicking back as the turkey roasts away in the oven.
You’re likely already going to have sweet potatoes in the house, so why not throw together a batch of these to keep your family’s bellies happy while they wait to dig in to your amazing Thanksgiving dinner?
The fries themselves are perfectly seasoned with a combination of cinnamon, sugar, and pumpkiny spices, and combined with the caramel marshmallow dipping sauce, they are very reminiscent of the popular gooey sweet potato casserole that will be on many holiday tables.
Ingredients
- 2 lbs. sweet potatoes, peeled
- 1 Tbsp. olive oil
- 1 Tbsp. cinnamon sugar
- 2 tsp. pumpkin pie spice
- 1/4 tsp.kosher salt
- 4 Tbsp. caramel sauce
- 8 Tbsp. marshmallow sauce (like Kraft JetPuffed)
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 450 degrees F. Like a cookie sheet with aluminum foil and spray lightly with non-stick cooking spray.
- Cut sweet potatoes into 4-5 slices lengthwise (depending on potato size, you may get more or less), then stack the slices and cut then lengthwise again to create fries.
- Toss sweet potatoes with olive oil in a large bowl; sprinkle in cinnamon-sugar, pumpkin pie spice, and salt, and toss to coat.
- Spread sweet potatoes in a single layer on prepared baking sheet (you may need two!), being sure not to crowd them too close together, to ensure they crisp nicely.
- Bake 20-25 minutes, turning once or twice during baking, until fries are golden brown.
- Combine caramel and marshmallow sauce in a small microwave-safe bowl and microwave for 15 seconds.
- Whisk until smooth and incorporated, and dip away! Feel free to increase the recipe size if you and your family are big dippers!
How do you snack before a big holiday meal?
