When I was a little girl and any time we had to bring a snack somewhere–dance recital, preschool tea party, play dates–I asked my mom to make her brownies. They are from scratch and her delicate use of powder sugar (I obviously need more practice) was always perfect. Sometimes she would cut them ahead of time into little tiny square and put them into silver cupcake liners. When I asked her where the recipe came from, she told me that in college she and some girls put it together and would make them often. And now I make them. While my powder sugar isn’t done as well as hers, it makes me so happy to make a recipe she made when she was my age and throughout my childhood.
4 Ingredient Brown Sugar Shortbread
Four ingredients – that’s all this recipe calls for and I bet you’ve got them in your pantry!
Sometimes I find a new recipe I want to try and when I see the long list of ingredients I tend to put it on my “maybe” list. You know, that list that never sees the light of day.
These 4 ingredient brown sugar shortbread cookies are one of those recipes that makes the keeper list and you’ll find yourself making them over and over during the holiday season.
Cannoli Filled Crepes
One of my very fondest cooking memories was learning how to make house made cannoli at the little Italian restaurant I worked at in my hometown. To this day, cannoli is one of my very favorite desserts. It’s so light and sweet–the perfect way to end a meal in my opinion. I made crepes for my husband and our son the other day and it occurred to me that cannoli filling would be so unbelievably bomb-diggity inside crepes! And oh my gosh, my though was spot on. These crepes were just delicious!
Flour-less Chocolate Cake
I think one of my favorite guilty pleasures or indulgences is chocolate. I love eating it in every shape, form, or fashion. So naturally this decadent chocolate dessert is one of my go to’s for a show up and show off dessert for company. It is simple, requires a few pantry ingredients and will leave your guests feeling as if they are dining at a fancy restaurant.
The consistency of this cake reminds me of cheesecake and because the chocolate is bittersweet (or even could be semi sweet) it is not an overwhelmingly sweet dessert. However, it is overwhelming decadent, and will leave you needing to eat the first bite in a moment of silence, trust me.
