Brownies from Scratch

When I was a little girl and any time we had to bring a snack somewhere–dance recital, preschool tea party, play dates–I asked my mom to make her brownies. They are from scratch and her delicate use of powder sugar (I obviously need more practice) was always perfect. Sometimes she would cut them ahead of time into little tiny square and put them into silver cupcake liners. When I asked her where the recipe came from, she told me that in college she and some girls put it together and would make them often. And now I make them. To this day, cannoli is one of my very favorite desserts. It’s so light and sweet–the perfect way to end a meal in my opinion. I made crepes for my husband and our son the other day and it occurred to me that cannoli filling would be so unbelievably bomb-diggity inside crepes! And oh my gosh, my though was spot on. These crepes were just delicious!

Crepes filled with cannoli cream are the great for breakfast or dessert!

Sweet and Savory Salmon

December 9, 2014 By Natasha Red 2 Comments

During the winter my husband and I love to eat our fill of stews and soups. Made with homemade bone broth to keep us healthy and because a warm bowl of stew is just so comforting to eat alongside a fire on a chilly winter night. We like to mix in some lighter meals to balance it out and this week I was craving the lightness of a salad. We baked this salmon, flaked it with a fork and mixed it in with some greens, cherry tomatoes, blueberries and homemade vinaigrette. A super simple dinner that we absolutely savored.
