Crispy Brussels Sprouts Salad

October 18, 2014 By Meme Inge Leave a Comment

Brussels Sprouts are a rockstar veggie. I am a huge fan of them. But not so long ago, brussels sprouts weren’t welcomed on my plate with open arms.

I know I shouldn’t judge a book by its cover a veggie by its smell, but it’s hard not to. Boiled brussels sprouts smell like old shoes in my opinion, and that’s just wrong.

Pickled Green Beans // Erin Skinner from The Speckled Palate for My Cooking Spot

Yes, I realize this is a strange recipe for me to be sharing here with y’all…

But these are really good.

Throw in a jalapeño or two along with some garlic, and it’s a party!

Needless to say, these Pickled Green Beans (and jalapeños!) are super tasty in a Bloody Mary… or eaten by themselves if that’s what floats your boat.

Homemade French Bread

September 25, 2014 By Rachel Cox 2 Comments

I think my second love (my husband being my first of course) would have to be bread. I am being so serious right now. I adore crusty bread, soft bread, savory bread, and sweet breads…big breads, little breads…get the point? Bread is like my love language. I am currently making 15-18 loaves of sourdough bread from my house every week and selling them to friends and local folks around town. I just have this thing for watching as flour, water and yeast create something as magical and comforting as homemade bread.

So today I am sharing with you a simple and fairly quick homemade bread recipe – French bread that is. This does use yeast but it doesn’t require you to wait 3 days to bake it, and it pretty fool proof in my opinion!

Simple and fool proof french bread recipe!

Classic Homemade Focaccia

September 17, 2014 By Jana Tolman 3 Comments

There are many things I enjoyed about working in an Italian restaurant in high school and college. Chowing down on leftover focaccia after service was over was one of those things. Focaccia is one of my favorite breads because of it’s unique texture. It’s buttery and crisp on the outside and soft and chewy in the middle. The soft, spongey center makes it perfect for dipping in seasoned olive oil–the perfect appetizer for any Italian meal.
