Easy Strawberry Tartlets

February 26, 2015 By Alli Smith 21 Comments

Easy Strawberry Tartlets

I’m yearning for spring after a winter storm reached its icy fingers down south and left a 3° windchill in it’s path.  Brr.

I decided to give spring a nudge by whipping up my easy strawberry tartlets.  Cream cheese, a touch of honey, brown sugar and strawberries come together to form an elegant dessert that sits inside a crisp wonton cup. It’s the perfect bite!  And it’s the ideal dessert for spring.

When I’m planning a party, I always try to include foods that are individually portion sized, easy to eat and doesn’t require a lot of fuss.  The wonton cups can be made in advance and filled right before your guests arrive.  The filling can also be made a day ahead and stored in the fridge.

This is my #1 recipe I turn to when I need a beautiful, tasty dessert and I’m short on time. Not only is it scrumptious, the bright colors assure me that winter will not last forever!

Easy-Strawberry-Tartlets

These elegant, crispy little tartlets filled with creamy, honey infused cream cheese and pretty, sliced strawberries are also perfect for Sunday brunch, a spring bridal shower, a tea party, Mother’s Day or you can keep them all to yourself.  I’ll never tell! Dress them up by adding a dollop of whipped cream and a tiny mint leaf.

Easy Strawberry Tartlets are the ideal dessert for spring and summer!

Ingredients

  • Easy Strawberry Tartlets
  • 12 wonton wrappers
  • 3 Tablespoons butter, melted
  • 1/2 cup packed brown sugar
  • 3/4 cup cream cheese
  • 2 Tablespoons honey
  • 2 teaspoons orange juice
  • 3 cups fresh strawberries, sliced
  • Whipped cream and fresh mint, optional

Instructions

  1. Brush one side of each wonton with melted butter. Place brown sugar in a shallow bowl and press buttered side of wontons into sugar to coat. Press wontons, sugar side up, into greased muffin cups. Bake at 325° for 7-9 minutes or until edges are lightly browned. Remove to wire rack to cool.
  2. In a bowl, combine the cheese, honey and orange juice. Spoon about 1 Tablespoon of cheese mixture into each wonton cup. Top with strawberries. Garnish with whipped cream and mint. Yield: 1 dozen

Helpful Hint:  Think beyond strawberries. Once blueberry picking season arrives, I’ll make blueberry tartlets.  What about blackberries?  Yum!

Those Strawberry Tartlets look so yummy! It’s funny, as a kid I hated strawberry’s but in the last few years it has become one of my favorite fruits (after pineapples of course!) I can’t wait to try this recipe <3

i love that you can use wonton wrappers for practically everything. these look really good. 🙂 though the last time i tried to make mini lasagna in wonton wrappers i couldn’t get them crispy. do you have any idea why that happened? i’m kinda a novice in the kitchen 😛

These look so wonderful, and will probably make an appearance at my next function! I am sure that due to their size, my guests & I would have a difficult time convincing ourselves not to inhale several at a time 🙂
