Peppermint French Hot Chocolate

December 8, 2015 By Erica Acevedo Leave a Comment

Peppermint French Hot Chocolate - rich & decadent & perfect for cold weather! | Get the recipe on MyCookingSpot.com!

Everything’s better in Paris.

At least, that’s what they say. While I cannot personally attest to this global attitude (yet!), I have to admit that the French just know how to do things right. Croissants, cheese, wine, escargot (surprisingly delicious!), and chocolate.

Good grief. I’ll never buy powdered hot cocoa again after trying this Peppermint French Hot Chocolate. If this is any indication of how much better things taste in France, I’m booking a ticket ASAP. [Read more…]

Creamy Blue Cheese Olive Dip

November 26, 2015 By Erin Kennedy 1 Comment

Blue Cheese Olive Dip

I love olives. Green, black, stuffed, any, you name them. I love the sour tartness. They are also (obviously) the best part of a dirty martini. The dirtier the better with extra olive juice.

Olives are a fabulous ingredient to have around for the holiday’s. For this Thanksgiving, I was in charge of bringing an appetizer. Just like most of us, I don’t have a lot of extra time on my hands, but I also didn’t want to just buy something to bring. After-all, the hostess will have been in the kitchen of her house for the last two days, I wanted to show my appreciate by bringing a delicious and homemade recipe.

This recipe is so tasty. It reminds me of the pimento cheese I adored in New Orleans earlier this year. Living in AZ, pimento cheese is not such an easy thing to access. I love this recipe better because of the real olives in the dip.

I decided to make an olive cheese dip. This appetizer takes just a short bit of time, and I promise you it will be a hit. Serve it with crackers, chips or vegetables.

Rosemary Sea Salt – Quick Hostess or Neighbor Gift

November 19, 2015 By Stephanie Powers Leave a Comment

A quick and delicious recipe for Rosemary Sea Salt that makes a great holiday hostess gift!

Rosemary Sea Salt - My Cooking Spot-4

Hey y’all! It’s Stephanie from Sustaining the Powers here again today. Raise your hand if you love to give hostess gifts. Raise your hand again if you love to receive hostess gifts! Maybe it’s because I’m from Texas, but my mom always taught me you should never show up at a party empty handed.

You can bring some flowers, text the host (if you know them) and ask if you can bring a dish, drink or dessert, bring a bag of ice (parties almost always need more ice), bring a bottle of wine (or here in Colorado it’s a 6 pack of craft beer), or make a little something for your hostess, but it’s always special to be on the receiving end of a hostess gift. (It’s special to give them too. I get really excited about giving hostess gifts!)
