Vanilla Mint Coffee Creamer

December 24, 2017 By Erica Acevedo 1 Comment

An easy four-ingredient, chemical free, homemade vanilla peppermint coffee creamer recipe that costs only pennies to make!

VanillaMint Coffee Creamer

In what seems like a blink, the weather has gone from brown and autumn-y to cold and white and generally blah for most of the northern hemisphere. This Arctic Chill whatever the weatherman keeps talking about is for the birds. Why does it have to be so cold?!

Aw, who am I kidding, I live in Florida. It’s barely touched us. But I truly do feel for all of you northern folks and I sincerely hope the cold is tolerable, and isn’t messing with your holiday season. The best way, in my mind, to deal with cold weather is to drink lots of hot beverages; hot cocoa, hot toddies, coffee. If the snow is keeping you indoors and away from Starbucks at any point this coming winter, but you’ve got to get your peppermint coffee fix, all you need is four relatively common ingredients to make this homemade VanillaMint Coffee Creamer recipe!  [Read more…]

Butter My Hot Rum

December 15, 2017 By Marcella Rose Leave a Comment

I’m a bona fide Nutella-holic.

I pretty much covered that little factoid about me in my last post, and here I am again, bringing you another hazelnut-stuffed dessert, only this time with bananas. Absolutely different, totally delightful, unbelievably satisfying for hazelnut + banana lovers such as myself. [Read more…]

Great-Grandmother’s Homemade Irish Soda Bread

I am thinking about time travel today and not because I have been watching Cosmos.  I am thinking about time travel because I want to go back to a specific place in time.  I want to go back to Elko, Nevada, March 1960.  My mom would be nine years old.  She would most likely be in the sweetest dress you have ever seen with her hair bouncing in its natural curls.  My full-blooded Irish great-grandmother Hortense would be in the kitchen.  In the kitchen she would be busy but not too busy to be singing.  She would be signing the songs of her homeland while her hands moved quickly.   Not too quickly of course to lift a spoon to my mom’s lips and offer her a taste of the meal to come.
