Creamy Pecan Brussels Sprouts

October 23, 2015 By Natasha Red Leave a Comment

These cooler days definitely call for comfort foods, and what better way to say comfort food than a little heavy cream? 😉 I love that when I add it to anything, the dish immediately becomes that much more decadent. This dish is so savory and delicious, I couldn’t stop sneaking bites while it was cooking and after before serving it to my family!

We have used this as a warm side salad, and even topped a pizza with it along with some sliced up sausages and cheese. I happen to think it would make an excellent side to your holiday dinners as well! Who’s excited about Thanksgiving?!

The 12 Best Pumpkin Recipes for Fall

12 Best Pumpkin Recipes For Fall - My Cooking Spot

It’s Fall Y’all! Stephanie from Sustaining the Powers here again. The days are getting cooler and shorter, the leaves are beginning to change, and the pumpkin craze is fully in the air, so I wanted to bring you a round up of pumpkin recipes for you to enjoy with your families this Fall.

I don’t know about you, but I absolutely LOVE anything and everything pumpkin. Pumpkin pie, pumpkin cake, roasted pumpkin soup, pumpkin carving, pumpkin chunking, pumpkin patches, pumpkin spice, really, I’m probably down for anything you add to the word “pumpkin.” My Halloween board on Pinterest is at least 2/3 pumpkin and 1/3 The Walking Dead. (Any other Walking Dead fans out there?) That makes Fall my most favorite of the seasons. (plus I’m a food blogger, so all the best food holidays happen between now and January.)

Trips with me to the grocery store during this time of year involve me getting everything on our list and then I convince my hubby that we should stop by the baking aisle “just to see” what the sales are for the week. (Pro Tip: It’s always pumpkin.) Then I convince him that we’re going to need to stock up on more pumpkin for the rest of the seasons when it’s not available, plus “It’s on sale!” I say. Then I go home and stuff the canned pumpkin, pumpkin butter, pumpkin spice oreos, and candy corn pumpkins onto my already overflowing shelf of Fall ingredients, and I ration them carefully so I have some for the whole rest of the year. (I’m not kidding about this either. I just used my last pumpkin butter from last year in August.)

Cheesy Cauliflower Bake

Cauliflower is drizzled with a creamy, spicy cheddar cheese sauce to make a decadent and simple side dish that is ready in 30 minutes! This dish is loved by children and adults alike and is the perfect accompaniment for any meal.

When I was a kid, I was a pretty big fan of vegetables.

I didn’t like some (and still don’t, for that matter), but I mostly ate them without fuss. I think.

We were broccoli and cauliflower lovers… and I especially loved when my mom would sprinkle them with cheddar cheese, bake them for a few so the cheese got melty and delicious, and then serve them up hot as a side dish.

This recipe is a throwback to my childhood and those cheesy veggies… except I’ve elevated it a little bit. While it takes a bit longer than simply sprinkling cheese on top of a roasting veggie, I promise it’s worth the extra effort.

Parsley Lover’s Cucumber Salad

September 29, 2015 By Cat Elsby Leave a Comment

Parsley and Cucumber Salad

When I was living down in New Orleans, I faithfully ate from food trucks since they were camped right outside my office building all day long. And like the rest of the food in New Orleans, the food from these trucks was absolutely delicious. One truck in particular, The Fat Falafel, shared an incredible parsley salad that I couldn’t get enough of. In this recipe, I replicated that salad to the best of my abilities. And boy is it good.

Using just four ingredients, this salad is sweet with just enough kick from the vinegar. I have to warn you though, this salad is for serious parsley lovers, as the main leafy ingredient is Italian parsley.
