Halloween Mummy Jalapeno Poppers

Cute foods are the best foods, right?! I think so, especially when it comes to appetizers. I mean if something is already supposed to be small then can’t it be cute right along with small. The holidays are the perfect time for cute appetizers, and I take full advantage of this glorious time of year. I get plenty of eye rolls from my husband. He just wants to eat, ya know. So this year I made something cute out of a food he likes – Halloween Jalapeno Poppers. I still got the eye rolls, but he ate all of them so I win.

As usual, there’s always a way to make these your own. I just can’t make a recipe that can’t be changed up to others personal preferences. I’m sure it’s because I’m could be what’s called a picky eater. I like options. With the Halloween Jalapeno Poppers it’s super easy to change up the eyes to any flavor you’d like. Siracha, ketchup, chocolate chips, candy eyes, olives, more peppers. Whatever you’d like! Whatever your guests like! Make some with each so you have options! Options are wonderful.

Why Tucson Needs To Be On Your Food Bucket List

October 5, 2017 By Erin Kennedy Leave a Comment

I’ve lived in Phoenix for 11 years as of October 1st. The first time I made it to Tucson was only three years ago. It took me 8 years to discover the majesty of Tucson, Arizona. It is so close to Phoenix, but seems like we’re in another state. Once I had discovered it, my husband and I try to get down there whenever it is possible. Why? Let me go over the list of why Tucson is so great:

  1. The food, oh the glorious food.
  2. The outdoor activites
  3. The people
  4. Back to the food because it is really fantastic.

Coffee Cake Pound Cake

September 21, 2017 By Alli Smith 24 Comments

Coffee Cake Pound Cake

Pound cakes originated in Europe in the first half of the 18th century and originally weighed 4 pounds! That was because a traditional pound cake contained one pound each of sugar, butter, flour and eggs.

Here’s my take on pound cake:  If I could get away with it, I would slice it horizontally about 1/4 of an inch below the crusty top, take the top part and leave the rest of it for everyone else.  Frankly, I love the taste of a pound cake, but find most of them too thick and a little on the dry side.  That’s why I usually make a simple glaze to add some moisture.

On the other hand, coffee cake is one of my favorite cakes because of the streusel topping.  What if a pound cake and coffee cake got married?  That’s exactly what happened in my coffee cake pound cake.

Funfetti Cookie Dough Truffles

What is it about cake batter that makes people go crazy? For me, it is the memories of licking the spoon while helping my mother bake when I was growing up; and then being old enough not to have to wait to lick the spoon. How about when the batter is so good, that you are literally licking the bowl as much as you can without getting cake batter in your hair? No? That didn’t happen to you? Oh well.
