Layers of brownie pieces, chocolate pudding, cool whip and candy cane pieces create a beautiful holiday dessert.
Hi My Cooking Spot readers! I’m Jenna from A Savory Feast. Today I’m popping in with a decadent and delicious holiday dessert.
My family got together to celebrate Christmas last week, since it was the only time we would all be in town at the same time this month. Andrew and I were so excited to be able to host everyone in our new home! I’ve been looking for an excuse to use my trifle bowl, so I decided to create a holiday trifle.
Peppermint is one of my favorite flavors. I recently used it to create a recipe for Peppermint Cream Cheese Frosted Brownies. I loved how the brownie and peppermint tasted together, so I decided to use it in my trifle.
This dessert looks impressive, but it’s actually quite simple to make. Mix up a batch of brownies, crush a couple candy canes and make a bowl of chocolate pudding. All you have to do is layer these ingredients along with cool whip and you’re done!
I wasn’t sure if everyone in my family liked peppermint, so I just sprinkled the peppermint on the top. That left the bottom layers peppermint-free in case anyone wanted that. If you have a crowd of peppermint fans, you can add more layers of crushed candy canes!
Ingredients
- 1 (9x13 inch size) box brownie mix, prepared according to directions
- 1 (3.9 oz) box chocolate pudding mix, prepared according to directions
- 1 (16 oz) container cool whip, thawed
- Crushed candy cane pieces to garnish
Instructions
- Mix and bake the brownies according to the directions on the package. Cool completely.
- Mix the pudding according to the directions on the package. Set aside.
- Cut the brownies into 1-inch square pieces. Create the first layer in your trifle bowl with brownie pieces.
- For the second layer, spread about 1/2 of the pudding over the brownie pieces.
- For the third layer, spread about 1/2 of the cool whip over the pudding layer.
- Repeat the brownie, pudding and cool whip layers.
- Crumble the remaining brownies on top of the trifle. Sprinkle with crushed candy cane pieces.
- Keep refrigerated until you are ready to serve.
Are you a fan of peppermint and brownie together?
