This homestyle dinner is so easy to make! Just a few minutes of prep and you’ll have it cooking in the slow cooker until dinnertime.
Hi everyone! It’s Jenna from A Savory Feast again. This has been a busy season for me! I just got married a couple of weeks ago. It was a crazy few months with wedding planning and buying a house. My slow cooker came in handy a lot during this time!
Today I’m sharing one of the recipes I’m loving this Fall. This slow cooker meal takes a whole chicken and cooks it with red potatoes, onions and green beans. It’s a healthy, complete meal that is almost too easy!
Have you ever cooked a whole chicken in a slow cooker before? I discovered this method awhile back and LOVE how it turns out! The chicken is so tender and just falls off the bone when you begin to cut it.
To make this a complete meal, I added red potatoes, green beans and onions. They all combine to make a healthy, hearty meal.
So for your next busy day, load up the slow cooker with this easy dinner. Your house will smell incredible when you return! All you’ll have to do is grab a plate and fill it with chicken, potatoes and veggies. Enjoy!
Ingredients
- 1 medium onion, cut into rings
- 1 whole chicken (about 4 pounds)
- 1-2 cups small red potatoes, cut in half
- 1-2 cups green beans (wash and snap the ends off)
- Salt, pepper and garlic powder to taste
- 1/2 cup water
Instructions
- Place the onion rings in the bottom of the slow cooker. Add the chicken.
- Surround the chicken with green beans and red potatoes until your slow cooker is full.
- Season with salt, pepper and garlic powder to your liking.
- Pour in the water and place the lid on the slow cooker.
- Cook on high for 4-6 hours or until the chicken is cooked thoroughly and the potatoes are tender.
